The port is divided into 4 areas
1. Doekegatkanaal (entrance)
2. Julianahaven
3. Emmahaven
4. Wilhelminahaven
Doekegatkanaal
Eemshaven is accessible for vessels with an operational draught up to 10,50 metres under normal HW conditions. Future dredging will enable vessels with a draught of 13,0 metres to use the port.
The distance between the two moles is 470 metres. The bottom width is 200 metres with an initial depth of 12 metres below NAP.
There is a green fixed light at the western mole and a red fixed light at the eastern mole.
The Doekegatkanaal has a width at the entrance of 325 metres (bottom width 200 metres) and a length of 2100 metres. A swinging basin with a diameter of 500 metres and a depth of 9,0 metres is located at the end of the Doekegatkanaal. To the east of the swinging basin is the Wilhelminahaven with a length of 600 metres, a bottom width of 200 metres and depth of 15 to 17 metres
To the west of the swinging basin are two other basins:
a. Julianahaven, with a length of 1200 metres, a bottom width of 200 to 250 metres and a depth of 14 to 17 meters.
b. Emmahaven, with a length of 500 metres, a bottom width of 120 to 150 meter and a depth of 10 metres.
Julianahaven
The basin has a length of 1200 metres, a breadth of 200 to 250 metres and a depth of 14 to 17 metres.
Northern bank
A public bulk quay has been built along the north bank of the Julianahaven with the following particulars:

Quay level: 4,40 metres above NAP
Western bank
A Ro-Ro terminal is located along the western bank of the Julianahaven.
The Ro-ro bridge is desigdned to allow seagoing ships to be loaded and discharged rapidly and efficiently. The bridge has three lanes so that vehicles can be driven on and off the ship simultaneously

Southern bank
Along the south bank of the Julianahaven is a general cargo, ro-ro and container handling quay with a length of 1150 metres and a width of 200 to 250 metres. The quay level is 4,4 metres above NAP at quay side and 4,8 metres above NAP at the centre of the quay. This private quay is worked by the following stevedoors:
Veem & Factor Eemshaven BV, Eemshaven Sugar Terminal CV, Sealane Coldstorage BV, Wagenborg Stevedoring BV.
Emmahaven
The basin is 500 metres long with a breadth of 120 to 150 metres and a depth of 10 metres. The following companies are located at the Eemshaven:

Wilhelminahaven
The basin has a length of 600 metres and a breadth of 200 metres at a depth of 15 to 17 metres
Five haevy mooring dolphins with a SWL of 160 to 300 tonnes are available around this basin. Four mooring buoys have been laid out in this basin. Each buoy has a SWL of 80 tonnes.
